Lost Walks would like to acknowledge that we are on stolen land

Through acts of genocide, Indigenous people were forceably removed from this area. Denver is currently using taken land of the The Apache, Arapaho, Cheyenne, Nuu-agha-tuvu-pu (Ute), and Ochethi Sakowin Native Nations.

Native communities remain committed to the stewardship and protection of their ancestral homeland Turtle Island. Native communities continue to speak for the land. Land is part of their ancestors and culture so they speak for and protect the land. Natives also know that we only borrow the land from our children, and that is why we must continue to speak for unci maka, Tonantzin, grandmother earth.

We now shift to action, as acknowledgment without action we can’t address the systemic issues facing Indigenous people.
